  • Experienced UK company
  • Unique ‘Control Logic’ minimises energy consumption and noise
  • Platinum range of ‘Low Energy’ machines are exceptionally efficient

Meaco’s Standard Range

Meaco DD8L

Meaco DD8LThe Meaco DD8L in both ‘Junior’ and standard guises is a highly effective desiccant dehumidifier, with impressive extraction rates. Targeted at ‘leisure’ users but equally at home in homes. The standard model gets an anti-bacterial filter and ioniser but due to this costs a little more than the Junior model. Read Meaco DD8L review.

Meaco 10L

Meaco 10LMeaco’s 10L is a good choice for those on a tight budget and with a small home (three bedrooms max). It has an impressive extraction rate and is both very light and small for a refrigerant dehumidifier. At this price you won’t be expecting many features and indeed features are something it doesn’t have many of! Read Meaco 10L review.

Meaco 20L

Meaco 20LThe Meaco 20L is the most powerful dehumidifier of the range and extracts moisture in home conditions at an impressive rate. You get goodies like a large 3.5L collection bucket and an anti-bacterial air filter. We liked that the fan speed setting was separate from the dehumidifying options to give you more control over noise levels. Read Meaco 20L review.

Meaco’s Platinum Range

Meaco 20L Low Energy

Meaco 20L Low EnergyThe Meaco 20L Low Energy was a 2014 Which? Best Buy and with good reason. It’s probably the most accomplished refrigerant dehumidifier on the market, with fantastic extraction performance, unquestionable build quality and an excellent array of features. Like most refrigerant models it does lack some of the air purification gizmos, but it makes up for it with energy efficiency. This machine draws just 255W on full power, making it the most efficient dehumidifier on the market when measured by Watts per litre of water extracted. Read Meaco 20L Low Energy review.

Meaco 12L Low Energy

Meaco 12L Low EnergyThe Meaco 12L Low Energy is the other machine in the Platinum range. This lacks some of the features of the 20L, like two fan speeds and an automatic rotating louvre, but the 12L also costs less too. What you get for your money is top-quality machine suitable for a large 3 bedroom home that consumes just 165W on full power. To the best of our knowledge this makes it the cheapest full-sized dehumidifier to run on the market. Read Meaco 12L Low Energy review.

Who Are Meaco?

Incorporated in 2003, Meaco UK Limited’s main business focus is dehumidifiers, selling a range of domestic (desiccant and refrigerant), industrial and pool dehumidifiers. As well as Meaco branded dehumidifiers they are a Mitsubishi Electric distributor. They also offer a range of air purifiers (under the ‘Airvax’ brand) and humidifiers. Looking at the company financials of previous years they are financially solid. Meaco was founded and is still owned by Chris Michael and another family member from Guildford in Surrey.

Meaco Dehumidifiers

Meaco offer both desiccant and refrigerant dehumidifiers. They are probably best known for their desiccant models the DD8L and DD8L Junior, which have been a huge hit with boat and caravan owners, however they are also well-suited to the home environment. They produce many more refrigerant models, the 10L and 20L within their standard range and the 12L Low Energy and 20L Low Energy within their ‘Platinum’ range. These two models in their Platinum range offer increased quality and very low running costs, but the initial purchase price is higher.

Why Should You Buy One?

The Meaco range offers a dehumidifier to suit all situations. If you need a dehumidifier that can perform at temperatures under 15°C or need to keep noise to an absolute minimum then the DD8L would be a good choice. For maximum performance in the home setting one of their refrigerant models would be a good choice (see below for a model comparison).

What all Meaco dehumidifiers have in common are their simple digital control panels and a quality build standard. They also have the unique ‘Meaco Control Logic’. This reduces energy consumption by turning off the fans when the machine doesn’t need to dehumidify. The fans then turn back on briefly every 30 minutes to check the humidity hasn’t risen. Most dehumidifiers have their fans running continuously, so this saves both energy and added noise.

Usually their standard models come with a 1-year warranty, which is a bit disappointing considering their main competitors of EcoAir and Delonghi are now offering two-year warranties. However the Platinum models usually now come with a 2-year warranty.
